Meet Sparkie Lexi

Oct 2026

Meeting Lexi is an uplifting experience and for those of you who haven’t had the pleasure, she’s the bundle of joy with an enormous sense of presence who hosts our Spark Empower Her class.

Why did you become a Sparkie?

I have a passion for connection and to help people feel a sense of belonging. The dance class I lead offers that too. It’s not just about movement, but the connection before and after class. I also saw becoming a Sparkie as an opportunity to turn something I already do and that brings me joy into an act of service. When you’re busy, it can be hard to find ways to contribute to your community, so Spark felt like a natural fit.

What brings you joy?

Dancing, meeting people and connecting with others. I love those “aha” moments when someone feels a sense of belonging, or when you make a really nice, deeper connection with someone.

Music brings me so much joy too. I love when people send me music, and I love going to live music events and discovering artists and genres I’ve never experienced before. Music connects people.

Do you have any hobbies?

I have lots! Dancing, listening to music and going to live music events. I love going to the theatre, walking in the hills and cooking. I definitely love feeding people too.

Do you have any personal experiences with loneliness you’d like to share?

I’ve moved a lot in my life, and moving cities or countries definitely puts you in a space where loneliness can become very obvious. I moved to Adelaide nine years ago, and even though it’s quite a tight-knit community, moving somewhere where you don’t know anyone can be very lonely.

At the time, I also had very small children, which can be a particularly lonely time. My husband reminds me that it takes me at least 18 months to really settle somewhere, find your people and find your tribe — that’s a long time to potentially have more moments of loneliness than at other times.

But I also think you can be lonely while still having people around you. Loneliness can show up in different ways and is relative to each person. For me, sometimes I just let it settle and it passes, but I think you have to be active about it. We’re conditioned not to ask for help, and that can make it harder.
