Historic resolution on social connection

July 2025

In a historic move, the World Health Assembly has officially recognised social connection as an urgent public health priority! This landmark resolution, adopted in late May, affirms the work Spark is doing to foster meaningful social connection and address loneliness and isolation in our communities.

The resolution calls on governments and organisations to develop and implement strategies that actively promote positive social connection, acknowledging its vital role in determining community health. The WHO Commission on Social Connection’s flagship report will be released on 30th June, offering further guidance and insights.

“We’re very excited, as the resolution adds weight to the conversation about social connection as a priority for our individual and collective wellbeing”, says Dr Nadia Corsini, Senior Research Fellow, UniSA.
